Course Objectives:
Mergers and acquisitions activity has increased substantially during the last 10 years. The forces of globalization, deregulation and technological change have created a dynamic and competitive business world. M&A transactions are a key strategic tool used by many firms to create sustainable competitive advantage and increase growth. But, M&A transactions are complex, difficult to execute, and prone to failure. Research evidence suggests that about 50% of all M&A transactions destroy shareholder value.
Will your company initiate an M&A transaction in the near future? Do you feel confident in your ability to understand and manage the process? Is your business likely to receive an unwanted takeover offer? How will you respond? Will you be able to beat the odds and do a deal creates value?
Succeeding at the M&A, Alliances and Partnership Game will help you develop and implement successful strategies for your company’s M&A, alliance and partnership deals. The faculty will provide a broad, strategic perspective along with a detailed examination of key issues in the M&A, alliances and partnership process. The interdisciplinary faculty will help you determine a strategic rationale, select appropriate acquisition targets, value them, and evaluate the long-term potential of the relationship. You will develop the tools to manage this complex process, from identifying your acquisition targets, to bringing the deal to a successful close, to thinking through integration issues.
